Mr. Krabs is one of the main characters in SpongeBob SquarePants. He is SpongeBob's penny-pinching boss, who often prioritizes money above all else. At times, he gets far too carried away in his attempts to save or make money, charging customers for every possible thing or threatening to tear a man's arm off for a single coin.

There are times when he shows great maturity, particularly when he gives SpongeBob some life advice. The series has gone on for so long that Mr. Krabs has gained a well-developed and rich history, some of which fans may have missed if they didn't watch specific episodes.
10 His Full Name Is Eugene Harold Krabs
Most people refer to Mr. Krabs as Mr. Krabs, or simply as Krabs. For this reason, his first name wasn't well known during the first two seasons. It was made more obvious in one of SpongeBob SquarePants' most popular episodes, Mid-Life Crustacean. His mother referred to him only by his first name as she scolded him.
Mr. Krabs' first name would be used more frequently over the course of the series by characters like Squidward, Mrs. Puff, and sometimes even Plankton. His middle name was revealed in a SpongeBob comic strip titled Only The Clonely, when Plankton used Mr. Krabs' full name.
9 He Was Addicted To Chum
In Mr. Krabs' old Navy days, he had once overslept. This allowed everyone else to chow down on the good food. All that was left was chum, and Mr. Krabs was so hungry that he ate it. He found that he actually liked chum, and he would crave it every so often.
Mr. Krabs would travel to the Slop Pail, where he would indulge in his shameful secret. Once it closed down, he was so desperate to get more that he was willing to give the secret formula to Plankton. Plankton tried to take advantage of this, but Mr. Krabs quickly got over his craving after eating too much chum at once.
8 He Was Abducted By Aliens
Mr. Krabs is the type who won't believe in something until he sees it. He didn't believe in the wishing well, nor did he believe that Pretty Patties could succeed. However, he was proven wrong on both counts. Mr. Krabs didn't believe in aliens either, and for good reason. SpongeBob and Patrick caught him in a net while accusing him of being an alien, so Mr. Krabs knows how dangerous their belief in aliens can be.

Unfortunately for Mr. Krabs, he was wrong about aliens too. When SpongeBob and Patrick told Mr. Krabs about their alien encounter in FarmerBob, Mr. Krabs assumed they were both hallucinating. After Mr. Krabs insisted that there was no way for aliens to exist, a UFO came by to abduct all three of them.
7 Mr. Krabs Tried To Kill Squidward
It is no secret that Mr. Krabs will do almost anything to earn some money. Although he thought that Squidward's paintings had no value, he learned from an art critic that art becomes much more valuable if the painter is deceased.
Mr. Krabs proceeded to send Squidward on ridiculously dangerous deliveries in the hopes that he would be able to profit off of his employee's paintings. Squidward survived each delivery, and Mr. Krabs, losing patience, chased him with a mallet for at least 3 hours. This wasn't the only time Mr. Krabs wanted Squidward dead, as he also made himself the beneficiary of Squidward's life insurance policy.
6 He Hid An Employee Break Room Behind A Brick Wall
In Breakin', Mr. Krabs was required to give SpongeBob a 5-minute break every 20 years, or he would be fined by the labor authority. He had to break down a wall covered in metal, wallpaper, and brick in order to make the break room accessible. Even SpongeBob wasn't aware that the room existed.
After SpongeBob used up his break time, Mr. Krabs made sure to seal it back up with fresh bricks, despite the fact that SpongeBob wasn't likely to use it. Squidward, the only person who would use the room regularly, was unfortunately trapped inside.
5 He Was The Head Chef Of The S.S. Diarrhea Before Becoming A Better Cook
When Squidward wanted to temporarily turn the Krusty Krab into a fancy restaurant, Mr. Krabs was in charge of the cooking. Unfortunately, his creation turned into a living monstrosity. His cooking was as terrible as it was because he was the Head Chef of the S.S. Diarrhea. Although he worked on the S.S. Gourmet, he was a mere bathroom attendant. However, Mr. Krabs had actually improved his cooking when he worked on a Naval cargo ship.

Mr. Krabs' captain demanded that he stop making fancy dishes and serve up slop instead in order to toughen up the men. This hurt him since he was actually passionate about cooking, although it's hard to tell since SpongeBob is usually behind the grill.
4 Old Man Jenkins Provides The Krusty Krab With Ingredients
Mr. Krabs worked out a deal with a man he knew from his childhood, Old Man Jenkins. Jenkins provided the Krusty Krab with the ingredients that were needed to make the Krabby Patties. Although Mr. Krabs thought the world of this old man, his tune quickly changes whenever money is involved.
When presented with a hefty bill, Mr. Krabs decided to make SpongeBob work as a farmhand in order to pay off the bill. This arrangement worked favorably for all parties involved, and Old Man Jenkins had no problems with tearing the bill into shreds after getting a hard day's work out of SpongeBob.
3 He Needs To Have A Purpose
The Krusty Krab Training Video revealed that after the war, Mr. Krabs fell into a depression and secluded himself in his home. He was able to turn his life around after creating the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs is a person that needs to have a purpose in his life, and nothing brings him more joy than actively making money.
When Mr. Krabs attempted to retire, he did everything that he wanted to do in a single day. He was a mess, and he didn't regain his spirit until he started working at the Krabby 'O Mondays in Selling Out before eventually getting his restaurant back.
2 He Hasn't Perfected The Krabby Patty Yet
The Krabby Patty is hailed as the ultimate good. It is considered perfection by SpongeBob, Plankton, and many of the Krusty Krab's customers, which is why the Krusty Krab is such a popular eating establishment. However, Mr. Krabs hasn't perfected the Krabby Patty.
SpongeBob has shown that the Krabby Patty can be improved by adding some jellyfish jelly, which made the restaurant's business boom until Mr. Krabs decided to take it off of the menu. In addition, the burger is shockingly great with chum. In The Krusty Bucket, PlanKrab added a pinch of chum to every Krabby Patty, which customers remarked was better than the usual Krabby Patty.
1 He Actually Fired SpongeBob
As unbelievable as it sounds, Mr. Krabs fired SpongeBob. He thought that if he did so, he would be able to save an entire nickel. He didn't fire Squidward because he had seniority, although Squidward can't cook, is rude to the customers, and sleeps on the job.
It was extremely short-sighted of Mr. Krabs to forget that SpongeBob is his major money-maker, but he is often too blinded by his own greed to notice the obvious. He would eventually ask SpongeBob to come back, despite the nickel he apparently lost. Instead, he installed a pay toilet to make up for it.
