#StormPia | We're responding and supporting customers affected by the strong winds.Storm Pia has impacted the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire region, bringing strong winds overnight. Our teams responded quickly and have already managed to reconnect more than 28,000 of those who have been impacted. We are experiencing high levels of disruption to power supply with over 40,000 customers having been affected so far, with West Yorkshire seeing the most impact. We know how difficult it can be for our customers during a power cut and we will continue to work throughout the storm to get the power back on as quickly as possible and we will keep monitoring our progress to give customers the best estimate of when power is likely to be back on. This may change as the impact of the storm on the network becomes clear, and we need to ensure it is safe for our engineers to be working, but we will keep customers informed as soon as we know more. Customer support vehicles are being deployed and welfare support arrangements are being coordinated to support customers. For customers who are part of our Priority Services Membership, we will ensure you receive extra help and keep in touch with you to let you know when your power is likely to be back on. Alternatively, you can contact our dedicated priority service line on 0800 169 2996. If you know someone or owant to sign up for our Priority Services Membership, you can do so at https://lnkd.in/guRjiRp.Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFvnuskr.

#StormPia | Nearly 40,000 customers are now restored. Our teams are working hard to restore power as a result of Storm Pia which has impacted the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire region. The storm brought strong winds overnight and our teams have responded quickly throughout today, meaning 84% of those affected by Storm Pia now have their power back on. We will keep our remaining customers still off supply updated regularly via text message, on our website, and via our social media channels. We know how difficult it can be for our customers during a power cut and we will continue to work throughout the storm period to get the power back on as quickly as possible. We are providing customers with the best estimate of when power is likely to be back on. This may change due to the impact of the storm on the network, but we will continue to keep customers informed.Customer support vehicles are deployed and welfare support arrangements are in place in the worst affected areas. Where possible we are connecting generators to help get worst affected customers, and those who are most vulnerable, back on supply. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFvnuskr

Today, Erie County Executive Poloncarz reminds all that the State of Emergency and Travel Advisory issued for the previous storm for Erie County is still in effect and will remain in-effect through Thursday evening, January 18, 2024. Lake-effect snow accumulations of 1–2 feet or more during this period, with localized accumulations of up to three feet possible, will make driving difficult at times, and heavy equipment is still working in some municipalities cleaning-up previously fallen snow. Motorists are urged to be alert while driving, have an emergency safety kit in your vehicle, and stay off the roads as much as possible during the heavy snowfall.See graphic for details, or go to: https://lnkd.in/dsdxBqQM* Area employers are also strongly encouraged to allow employees to work from home wherever possible for the remainder of the week in order to lessen the number of vehicles on the roads.• Organizations and community groups with scheduled activities or events in this period should strongly consider cancelling or rescheduling those events.* Find more information for storm preparedness at erie.gov/winter• Updated information about highway & transit conditions is available at 511ny.org• Updated NFTA Metro Bus & Rail information is available at nfta.com

Trees, branches and power lines are down due to the storm. GP&L vegetation contractors will clear the toppled trees and limbs from electrical wires so our line crews can restore power. To continue restoring electricity to more customers as safely and quickly as possible, crews will not remove tree debris; it is the customer's responsibility to remove tree debris from the property.Safety reminder: Do not go near downed power lines. If you see any, report by calling GP&L at 972-205-3000 or 833-403-2106.

In the last 24 hours Tropical Cyclone Jasper has formed and intensified to a Cat 3 cyclone, with further intensity and development expected. As with all weather events, no one can accurately state what is going to happen or control the outcome. We can however, control is how well prepared we are for the strong winds and heavy rain a cyclone brings. ✅ Clean up your yard and tie down any loose items. ✅ Stock up a first aid kit, batteries, drinking water and non-perishable food items enough for at least 3 days. ✅ Check on your family, friends and neighbours, especially if they are elderly. ✅ Have a plan of where you can go if there comes a need to evacuate ie family or friends place or shelter in your town and also a plan for your pets to keep them safe.Stay safe everyone and let’s hope TC Jasper weakens and only brings much needed rain to our region.https://lnkd.in/gNbqc3GA
