1. Grand Central Kitchen
To many, Grand Central Kitchen is considered the best breakfast in Birmingham. A top-tier fry-up, as it were. (It’s also one of the cheapest places for food too.) The number of times we’ve been wandering around the City Centre, a bit worse for wear, and have been so thankful for this place is too many to count. This cosy yet reliable eatery, situated next to the Grand Central tram stop, is all about the all-day breakfast menu. For one of the best Full English breakfasts in Birmingham look no further.

2. Albert Schloss
If anyone can compete with the English for big breakfasts, it has to be Germany. The Bavarian restaurant, Albert Schloss, provides a range of hearty, Alpine-inspired dishes. Some of the highlights include the Mushroom Hash, a vegetarian twist on the classic hash with creamed garlic mushrooms, potato rosti, fried egg and chives; Cook Haus Breakfast, which consists of a Cumberland sausage, black pudding, treacle-cured bacon, sunnyside egg, a portobello mushroom, beans, grilled tomato and potato rösti; while other favourites include Kroissant Royale, Salmon Royale, Turkish Eggs and the Pancake Haus.

3. The Early Bird Cafe
This is what our breakfast dreams are filled with. Honestly, The Early Bird Bakery in Kings Heath makes some of the most visually-stunning viennoiseries in town. If you like your breakfast with a bit of sweetness to it, this bakery might be the best spot in Birmingham for you. Previous creations include the cherry bakewell croissant, peanut butter and raspberry éclair, and BBQ pineapple and coconut crème pât Danish. But it’s the Snickers twice-baked pain au chocolat that still keeps us up at night.

For a brilliant breakfast in Birmingham, The Boss Breakfast is a plate heaving with an Old English sausage, back bacon, hog’s pudding, scrambled eggs, baked beans, homemade hash browns, mushrooms and two slices of toast. 7. Paul at No 41
Sleek and simple, this cosy spot in Harborne serves an all-day breakfast that will blow you away. Scrambled eggs or tofu, simple bacon sarnies, or a creamy bowl of porridge should satisfy most. But hungry horses should tackle the traditional breakfast: Cumberland sausage, bacon, homemade rosti and baked beans, black pudding, mushrooms tomatoes and toast. The exposed brick interior might give a hipster vibe, but Yorks isn’t all facade. Breaking away from traditional breakfast items, it’s easily one of the best places to start your day in Birmingham. We’ll admit it, the Hylton Cafe ain’t much to look at. The small family-run cafe provides all the standard breakfast items you can imagine. All at a decent price too. There’s a reason this Jewellery Quarter cafe has such a cult following among Brummies. One of the most underrated breakfasts in Birmingham.
