Yes, I can build a fireproof home. Build with Earth Block. I just recently supervised the rebuild of a house in the burn area of Superior, CO., for Colorado Earth LLC. The owner was brave enough to take on the challenge of building with Compressed Earth Block, where no one else in the neighborhood did. david@earthcraftbuilders.com

Storm-vulnerable areas call for a different kind of home-building strategy that accounts for when disaster can potentially strike. Hurricanes across Florida are a prime example of this. Home developers in the state are taking serious action by building homes designed to be more resilient to extreme weather. Something that home builders, not just on the coasts of the country, will have to be prepared for in some way shape, or form.#HomeBuilding #Builders #Storms #Resilient

With the low snow pack that we had this past winter, and an unknown quantity of anticipated rain, municipalities are already talking about water conservation and wildfire preparation. So what can you do to help prevent wildfires on your property?- Clear debris: remove leaves, twigs and branches from your property - take them to one of the CVRD's municipal recycling centres - Here's a link to their facilitieshttps://bit.ly/3goDT5m - Building Materials: wood shakes, wood or vinyl siding and wooden fences attached to the home are all items that are flammable and can ignite if a wildfire is close to your home. If you are updating your home, think about changing building materials to be a more fire smart option - eg. Hardi Plank siding, metal roofing.- Spacing around home: BC FireSmart suggests that there is a 1.5 metre non-combustible zone around your entire home and any attached decks; from 1.5 to 10 metres should be a fire-resistant zone, free of all materials that could easily ignite from a wildfire.- Large yards and neighbourhoods: 10-30 metres should have evergreen trees thinned and pruned and regularly clean up the debris in the understory; from 30-100 metres try and have a fire break by creating spaces between trees and potentially flammable vegetation.- Please have your gutters cleaned - dry debris in your gutters could ignite from sparks from nearby fire. For the full article see BC FireSmart Begins At Home Manual at: https://bit.ly/3Uevvst Stay safe!Remember safety 1stFirefighter DaveandREALTOR®David Lowes Real Estate GroupRE/MAX Island Properties

Building codes work!Building codes have dramatically reduced risk for Florida property owners and their occupants! We must constantly push to strengthen those building codes! Make them stronger and make them more widely available to more people. When building codes fail, property is severly damaged, communities suffer and people die.https://lnkd.in/exNibtxK

As a hard arctic freeze is headed to Texas, be mindful that if your commercial building suffers major water damage due to burst pipes to have your trade contractor to pull the proper permits. And for homeowners, we often hear stories, after damage from storms i.e. freezes, hurricanes, floods, etc., where one person in the home says, "hey, we always wanted a larger kitchen or a bigger den...let's do it now since we are making repairs." Note that as soon as you move a structural wall...you will trigger a building permit for remodeling and you'll need to have a set of plans. I am resharing our blog article on Texas Freeze tips for pulling permits for further insight if incur major damage to your home. This 112 m/l acre development offers a rare first mover opportunity within an hour of the Kansas City, MO MSA. The subject property will border the east side of the Little Otter Creek Reservoir, a 345 acre lake that has been 34 years in the making. An additional 355 acres has been set aside for recreation and conservation surrounding the lake. This is the first lake project that the US Army Corp of Engineers has approved in the state of Missouri in over 25 years, making this a rare opportunity. Due to the lengthy process of obtaining land for the project, all interested parties have already sold their property surrounding the lake, meaning there will be little to no competition for a new owner. The lake is scheduled to be completed in mid to late 2024. The property features two large outbuildings, a single family home, and multiple recreational ponds. The property is conveniently located on a hard surface road and has water available at the road for a future developer. The land is currently used as an owner occupied residence and farm ground. There are many level areas and scenic rolling hills and treelines, meaning a new owner will not have to invest heavily in dirt work or tree removal in order to prep the property for development. There is also a gravel quarry located nearby, which, paired with the in-place infrastructure of a main water line, will help minimize the cost of future development. The City Council of Hamilton, MO has expressed a strong interest in having the land used for an RV park and resort, but would likely consider other options depending on a developer’s specific needs. RV demand and occupancy in the Hamilton area are strong and will only continue to grow as the lake is completed. Seller Financing is being offered to experienced investors and developers on negotiable terms. Contact Midwest MHC Brokers for more information. Offering Memorandum is available in the comments section. See the article below from the groundbreaking date for more information. https://lnkd.in/eQCvGdQx#RVParks #DevelopmentGround
